KINEMATICS WITH KELLY

Simple- the human body is made to move, it NEEDS mobility, we all know that. Whether we take the time to do this, is another topic up for discussion. Kinematics with Kelly is all about embracing imperfections found during a comprehensive breakdown of movement. Here we appreciate deficits, addressing impairment/movement dysfunction in turn promoting improvements in body awareness through mobility, stability and strength training enhancing efficient movement

Movement is intricate, can be complicated, not to mention our bodies are awesome “cheaters” at developing compensatory strategies to accomplish a task. That brings me to a series of question of: Do you think while you’re moving? What do you look for? Do you know what should be happening? Can you feel your muscles activate? Do you know what muscles are suppose to be working?

Neuromuscular control, awareness of our body, is vital for efficient movement patterns, performance and injury prevention, especially for an athlete. Unfortunately the education and services that can be provided by a physical therapist usually are only attained after movement dysfunctions, pain or injury have already occurred. Why?

After many years of clinical practice specializing in Sports and Orthopedic rehabilitation, the need for injury prevention and gaining/maintaining efficient movement through kinematical awareness is evident.

DR. KELLY NEUMANN

Hi, I'm Dr Kelly Neumann, physical therapist. I was born and raised in Jackson, Missouri. I'm a small town girl at heart.  I was very active in youth sports, playing softball, volleyball, basketball and soccer. I graduated from Jackson High School and then went on to Maryville University in Saint Louis where I got my doctorate in physical therapy. I graduated in 2011 with my husband, Dr Rusty Neumann, who is also a physical therapist.  After graduating we moved to Springfield IL in 2012 to start our family. I have been a clinical practitioner in outpatient physical therapy for over 14 years now, specializing in sports rehabilitation, performance and injury prevention.  Throughout our years as clinicians, we saw a need for more injury prevention or opportunities to incorporate physical therapists outside the clinic walls. And in 2024, Kinematics with Kelly, Sports and Movement Clinic was established to pursue this goal of promoting movement awareness for overall health and wellness in the community.  I am also certified in advanced integrated dry needling. I love working with the Chatham community, HSHS St. John's and Lincoln Land Community College athletics since 2013. We've provided injury prevention screens, teaching individualized corrective exercises, movement camps, and we've established care and education based off of sports demand.  My passion is to provide knowledge on movement, injury prevention and general health and longevity of life in our community. I am motivated to continue working with physicians, athletic trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, person trainers, coaches, parents and athletes of all ages to promote the mission 2 move.
